This iconic spiritual is well suited to the viola, an instrument with a depth of tone and a warmth of sound. While the piano mainly accompanies the viola, it does have a share of the melody, this enables the viola to have an expansive counter-melody running in counterpoint (measures 13 - 19). Approximately three minutes in performance duration, this attractive arrangement is ideal for performance in worship services, especially during the Easter season.
